As Hokkaido’s largest international airport, New Chitose Airport (CTS/RJCC) handles many international and domestic flights.
At the adjacent Chitose Air Base are engaged in activities to keep Japan safe.

Many types of airplanes fly into New Chitose Airport, which is used by various domestic and international airlines.
In addition, training for fighter planes and the Techno Coast Guard frequently takes place at Chitose Air Base.

- F15 fighters fly in single file formation. Take care to maintain sufficient separation between the leader jet and wingman jets!



- In summer, thick fog from the ocean often hinders visibility. Immobilized aircraft may find it necessary to request a follow-me car.



- Traffic controllers are transported by microbus to and from the control tower during shift changes. The microbus uses taxiways, so the utmost caution is required!
