Story:
In the world of Europa, six empires rule the world. The leaders of each empire climbed up the completed Tower of Babel, and drank from the waters of the Oasis, transforming these men and women into godlike beings. The empires are ruthless, always at war with each other and oppressing their people.
When you were young, your mother read you bedtime tales about mythical runes that were vital for the balance of the world and its elements, and gave their owner unbelievable power to change the world. It was heresy at the time, but your mother wanted to give you hope in such a broken world. Yours was a happy childhood, until your hometown was invaded by Gaulian troops. You were sent into the basement while your mother and father tried to defend their house, costing them their lives. You eventually ended up in the town of Kastelgrad, a city in the Neutral States, that are self-managed by mercenaries and adventurers, trying to make ends meet.
On the sunset of your 18th birthday, you have the opportunity to become an adventurer in your own right, and you decide to see if this heresy you grew up with is true or not.
Setting:
Runeseeker takes place in Europa, an alternate history version of Europe, Western Asia, Northern Africa and the Middle East, where the Tower of Babel was completed an old empires from the old age never died, with some fantasy elements.
Gameplay:
Runeseeker is a dungeon crawler akin to older text adventure games, as well as the more modern Etrian Odyseey and Persona Q games. Using a style more akin to a board game, you travel across the dungeon, getting into battles, solving events, getting items, hearing exposition, and collecting items.
Battles are akin to the Dragon Quest game with a unique twist - the actions that you and your party can take are given to you each turn in a hand of cards. Deck Management is an important part of the game.
You and your party members can be one of 28 classes. Each classes have their own passives and actions, which are given through level ups. Each character has one trait. You can create your character, choose a starting class, as well as any of 101 traits.
You will get items, equipment and special items called relics which you can equip that will give you more actions during battle, can change your stats, or can completely change the game in some cases.
