Detailed Description
March, March! is a minimalistic, turn-based wargame, in which Players control two opposing armies clashing on variety of battlefields. There is no randomness, so you can predict outcomes of the upcoming skirmishes and plan the whole battle ahead. Major emphasis is put on positioning your troops, outmanouvering the enemy and coordinating moves of diverse unit types.
Lead armies composed of units inspired by the 16th-17th century warfare, e.g. swordsmen, musketeers or hussars. You can get to the enemyβs rear with fast moving troops, fire at the enemy forts with artillery, order a daring frontal attack and many more. The game evokes atmosphere of the Europeβs early modern period thanks to the use of digitized, centuries-old copperplates from the collection of National Library of Poland and historical music pieces performed by Jonathan Sayles.
Features:
- fight with 6 unit types inspired by war culture of Europeβs early modern period,
- play in 3 game modes: battle the oposing forces, kill the enemy king or capture strategic points,
- clash on 24 battlefields of diverse sizes and characteristics,
- play out a small, quick skirmish or a massive line battle with up to 44 units on the field,
- battle in local PVP (Hotseat) or online via Steam Remote Play Together function,
- game illustrated with fragments of 20+ digitized, 16th-17th copperplates.
Several historical music pieces, recorded and performed by Jonathan Sayles, were used in the game. They have been shared by the Author under Creative Commons Attribution license.
Digitized versions of copperplates coming from XVII, XVIII and XIX century were used in the game. They have been published as Public Domain on Polona.pl portal managed by The National Library of Poland.
