RPG Maker MV - Diagonal Sprite Generator (AppID: 2905490)

[Product Overview and Usage]
This plugin is compatible with both RPG Maker MV and RPG Maker MZ.

To perform batch processing for the “character” folder, please ensure that you do not include any files other than PNG images when using it.

When you activate this plugin and initiate a test play, it will read the “character” folder and generate diagonal difference PNGs using a unique algorithm in the "TN_8DirectionGenerator" folder within your project. Once you have collected the necessary images, feel free to delete the folder.

Please note that this plugin serves as a tool for batch image processing and does not provide functionality to control the generated diagonal images within the game. Therefore, when using it, make sure to separately install eight-direction movement plugins like PD_8DirDash.js.


[Mechanism and Specializations of 8-Directional Conversion]
This algorithm uses a portion of the image to perform scaling, generating diagonal images in a pseudo-3D fashion.
It is optimized for RPG Maker's standard 4-direction human-like walking graphics, making it possible to anticipate reasonably diagonal-looking results even for animals and large characters.
However, it may have some difficulty with boxy characters or characters with overly wide image widths. (This algorithm is also adopted in the game "Absented Age -Mystic Chapter-").

Due to its mechanism, it cannot create 8-directional images correctly from images with special arrangements (such as images that consist of only front-facing characters placed in all four directions, like the default asset $BigMonster.png). Please be aware of this limitation.

[Collaborative Plugins]
・TN_SpriteExtenderEx.js (Sprite Height Modifier EX)
　This plugin allows you to specify the scaling ratio and automatically generate a batch of walking graphics with a different head height.
　It is included in “TN_SpriteExtender.js (Sprite Height Modifier)” released in 2019 after ver. 2.0 update (2023).　
This plugin can be used in conjunction with this plugin (Diagonal Sprite Generator).
　When used in conjunction with this plugin, it is possible to generate "8-directional images with modified proportions."

・PD_8DirDash.js (by Shioinu) *Included with the product
This plugin enables diagonal movement for 8-directional images. While it's a plugin for RPG Maker MV, it has been confirmed to work in MZ as well.

The default parameters and output layout of this plugin are designed to work with PD_8DirDash.js.
(Of course, it can be used with other 8-directional movement plugins as well.)
