The Dream Recorder (AppID: 2906460)

The Dream Recorder is a spiritual successor to Sean Karemaker’s published comic works and his existing art practice. In this narrative adventure game you’ll play as a lonely house cat left behind during a disaster. As you explore the woods of the Pacific Northwest outside your home you realize you aren’t alone. Befriend the inhabitants of the woods to uncover the secrets of the forest and break out of the cycle that traps you all.

Gameplay takes place in two phases; an improvement phase and exploration phase in the forest. The exploration phase features classic adventure game mechanics with a focus on real consequences. While exploring the player interacts with the inhabitants of the world through conversation, helping them with tasks and collecting objects. Engaging minigames keep the player delighted and invested in this strange world.

During the improvement phase the cat transforms the lonely, abandoned house into a cozy home for them and the forest inhabitants by managing and maintaining the household. Certain members may thrive in close quarters with one another while others definitely need the extra space. Good thing that the rooms are moveable once they move in!
