About This Game

You're the new judge in the dusty ol' town of Dry Gulch, and let me tell you, there's only one kind of case on your docket. Homicide. Prove you're the sharpest gavel in the West, deciding farcical homicide cases inspired by landmark rulings and bar exam questions. Dry Gulch is waitin' on you, Judge!

Detailed Description

Homicide Judge puts you in the boots of Dry Gulch’s new judge, presiding over 40 high-stakes homicide cases. That's right. These defendants all done waived their right to a jury and put their faith in your hands. It's just you, the law, and a whole mess of life-or-death decisions.

Think you can wrangle the felony murder rule? How about lassoin' the complexities of misdemeanor manslaughter? You'll get all the law you need - your job is to use that noggin of yours to sort the guilty from the innocent.

Don't you fret none. This here game was cooked up by an old-as-dirt retired California lawyer, aimin' to teach you the ins and outs of homicide law. Whether you're a bright-eyed law student or just someone who fancies themselves a puzzle solver, there's somethin' here for you.

You'll be judgin' 40 homicide cases, inspired by real landmark cases, or past homicide questions from state bar exams, all gussied up to fit our Wild West setting. Don't let the saloon doors and spittoons fool ya - these are genuine legal conundrums that'll put your mind to the test.

Features:

-40 homicide cases, dressed up in humorous Old West duds (historical accuracy may vary, legal accuracy right as rain)

-Three game lengths: quick-draw 5, mid-range 15, or full-bore 40 cases

-Earn your Bronze, Silver, or Golden Gavel

-Tougher than a ten-cent steak

-Free Demo Game with 5 Cases

So, are you ready to dispense some frontier justice? The court's in session, and Dry Gulch is waitin' on you, Judge!

Suggested Game Play:

Choose Your Challenge: Select from "Hear 5 Cases," "Hear 15 Cases," or "Hear 40 Cases." Cases are randomly selected and ordered for each playthrough.

Study the Evidence: Carefully review all witness testimonies and evidence presented for each case.

Consider the Law: Pay close attention to the statutes and precedents which are provided. They're your tools for reaching the correct verdict.

Pause for the Game: Feel free to pause the game at any time by minimizing it (Windows key + D). There's no timer, so take your time to think through each case.

Render Your Verdict: Choose wisely! Any incorrect verdict ends your chances of winning a gavel. There ain't no room for error in homicide.

Aim for Excellence: Get all 5 cases correct to earn the Bronze Gavel, 15 for Silver, and all 40 for the coveted Golden Gavel.

Exit or Quit: To exit the game completely, click "Give Up."

Advanced Game Play (Law Students):

Practice Your Legal Writing: Law students, before entering your verdict, consider writing a short essay explaining your reasoning. This simulates a Criminal Law exam or bar exam question. Compare what you wrote to the verdict explanation. The idea is hit on the same major legal issues, in your own words, not to mimic the explanation word for word. Repeat this process until you are very comfortable explaining all the major areas of homicide law, and applying that law to various fact-patterns.
