About This Game

Gamestonk is the first roguelite shop simulator. Manage the last videogame store in town, keep up with the latest releases, trade smuggled retros, select your modifiers strategically, hire workers, and deal with pesky shoplifters.

Detailed Description

Roadmap

🟠More employee roles

After the cashiers, we are deploying stockers to pick up and place the items and bouncers to deal with the thieves

🟠Trade Ins

We are elaborating the retros loop in order to integrate the trade ins gracefully into it

🟠More skins and wallpapers

More wallpapers, more carpets, more wall tops. Show off your achievements or just enjoy the pixels.

🟠Upgradable bank

As you become a tycoon, the loans or deposit sizes may be meaningless to you. You need to be able to upgrade the bank, but earn the upgrades by using the bank, otherwise it creates exploits where in the early and mid-game, you may effectively have infinite money if we unlock large amounts early on.

🟠NPC and NPC behavior diversity

Currently most NPCs have more or less very similar profiles: patience, basket size, chance to be a thief, speed, store browsing duration, health, defense, loot.

They all share physiological features and behave similarly when hit.

We have a chance for a huge diversity there, and a variety of behaviors, disagree?

🟠Weapons

Self explanatory but not too meaningful until we have at least some diversity in NPC behaviors.

🟠NPC loot

To be elaborated.

Most were positively surprised when receiving a large sum from the NPC loot but also when dropping items. To be elaborated.

🟠Dialogues with NPCs

For God's sake, stop dancing around the NPCs as they walk by the store!! They still can't react to your buffooneries

About the Game

🎮 The Last Stand of Physical Games

Gamestonk is the first roguelite shop simulator, blending management, strategy, and chaos into one pixel-packed package. Each day presents new challenges, new customers, and new opportunities to survive—or fail spectacularly. Adapt to the ever-changing market, or get crushed by it.

You’ve just inherited your grandfather’s dusty, chaotic video game shop—the last one standing in a world dominated by faceless online megacorps. Can you turn this retro wreck into a thriving business before the digital tide wipes you out?

📈 Endless Mode: Build Without Limits

If you’d rather build the ultimate gaming empire without the pressure of permadeath, switch to Endless Mode. In this laid-back tycoon experience, there’s no game over—just pure shop management bliss. Expand at your own pace, hire your dream team, and chase profits without limits.

📼 Retros Are Forever

Discover and collect a massive library of retro games—each with unique traits, rarities, and collector-grade properties. From humble plastic cartridges to ultra-rare Galactic editions, every retro title you find could change the course of your shop. Look out for sealed copies, complete-in-box treasures, signed editions, and imports straight from Japan—just like the real-world grading fantasy. And best of all? Retros never reset. No matter how your run ends, your retro collection stays with you, growing stronger with every playthrough. Build the ultimate archive and flex your shelves with pride—because retros are forever.

📅 Plan Your Week

Start each day by checking your trusty calendar for what's ahead. Whether it’s a new game release, a fresh gaming system, or a new type of furniture, staying informed is key. Watch out for special events; hot releases bring in excited customers, while certain days might attract more troublemakers. A well-prepared shop owner always stays ahead!

🃏 Select Modifiers Strategically

Every morning, The Truck arrives with offers: bonuses for some genres, discounts for others, store rating accelerations, loot amplification, and many others. Anticipate your needs wisely and purchase them strategically.

📦 Buy Games and Hardware

Order a massive collection of goodies—new game licenses, consoles, and peripherals. Once you’ve unlocked the latest stock, head to your PC, browse your catalogue, and order what you need to keep your store fully stocked for the day.

📚 Stock the Shelves

With fresh inventory and shelves ready at your store’s door, it’s time to get everything in place! Organize your shelves efficiently before opening and restock throughout the day to keep up with demand. A well-stocked store means happy customers!

💵 Run the Register

It’s time for the Grand Opening! Customers will rush in to grab their favourite games—scan their items, process their payments, and keep the line moving. But don’t keep them waiting too long! Impatient shoppers will walk out empty-handed if you fail to check them out in time.

🧍‍♂️ Hire the Crew, Run the Show

Running a store solo is risky business—thankfully, you can hire a team to keep things running while you focus on the big picture. Bring on cashiers to handle extra checkouts, stockers to pick up the mess, and bouncers to deal with rowdy customers and sticky-fingered shoplifters. But managing people is its own game: pay salaries on time, keep morale high, and watch their performance soar—or ignore them and watch your dream store spiral into chaos. Each staff member has their own stats, quirks, and work ethic. Treat them right, and they'll keep your legacy alive.

🪓 Defend Your Store

Not everyone is here to shop. Some shady characters are eyeing your stock, and it’s up to you to stop them before they make off with your best-selling items. Equip yourself with your new favourite tool: The Bat, and protect your store from losses!

🏗️ Expand and Grow

As your business grows, so does your store! Expand to fit more shelves, attract more customers, and reorganize your layout to maximize efficiency. Show off your management skills and prove you can run the biggest, best game store in town!
