About This Game
Eternal Challenger is a roguelite boomer shooter which aims to create retro style combat experiences and visuals with modern systems which randomize and create content.
Detailed Description
Old School Boomer Shooter Gameplay/Visuals
Similar to the shooters of the 90s and early 2000s, Eternal Challenger puts you in abstract designed environments with a familiar armament. Fight your way through retro first person shooter inspired Arenas and enemies while using weapons like the Chaingun, Railgun and Double Barreled Shotgun.
In order to maintain the gameplay feel of the original boomer shooters that inspired these games, the gameplay, visual and audio have to be kept at the original level of those games without too much influence from their modern succesors.
Modern Roguelite Systems
Eternal Challenger seeks to integrate modern roguelite systems in order to increase the replayability, diversity and intensity of the experience:
Permadeath: Once you die in a run the points you have are awarded to unlock new weapons, mechanics and content.
Difficulty modifiers: Each Arena has different difficulty modifiers which influence how the Arena is played and the Enemies spawned in the encounter.
Challengers: Besides the Difficulty Modifiers, random Challengers are added at certain points in a run. These Challengers add new mechanics as well as new Enemies into the enemy pool.
Blessings: Stackable powerups influence character power in a run but not to the point where the shooting aspect of the gameplay becomes too irrelevant.
Classes: Different classes can be chosen at the start of each run which create different playthroughs of the game.
Progression systems: Gather points from runs in order to unlock new content and unlock new permanent upgrades to your runs.
Rulesets: Runs can be modified by randomly generated Rulesets that can add more difficulty and reward to a run.
