About This Game

Like playing Go with puzzle pieces. Analyze the whole board and alter the whole playing field as you search for the best-scoring moves. Play local, against AI or online.

Detailed Description

In Battle-Lines, you capture other players' lines and place your own. Your goal is to earn 200 points before anyone else does.

Players: 1-4

Playtime: Around 20 minutes per match

Demo under development.

The game starts with the first player placing their piece. Pieces can be placed anywhere on the board. They gain points for each one of their lines on the board:

  • The longest line on the board is worth double points. Each player's longest line is marked with hexagons at both ends.

  • Loops are worth double points.

  • Lines get bonus points at lenghts 4 and 8.

  • These bonuses all stack.

  • The first player to get enough points, wins!

The next player then places their piece. By rotating their piece and placing it in a clever spot, they may be able to convert lines:

Converting another player's lines is harder, but sets your opponent back.

Instead of placing pieces, players may choose to rotate one of the tiles on the board. This can help to create a loop or convert lines, but has the downside that you're not adding new lines to the board. Also, loops can't be broken this way - but the longest line can!

DECISIONS GET MORE COMPLEX

The game starts out with about a dozen reasonable moves. With more and more tiles on the board, this soon turns into hundreds... Don't worry, it's as difficult for your opponents as it is for you! With more and longer lines to work with, decisions have bigger consequences too, and less time left to deal with them.

FEATURES: Pick your own difficulty

  • Play with larger or smaller pieces to change the difficulty.

  • Five AI difficulty levels.

  • 'Adaptive' AI setting that tries to match it's skill level to yours!

  • Take on the world with Online Play.

  • Try to beat your own high score in Puzzle Mode.
