Detailed Description
Arc 0: The Failed Isekai
Welcome to the year 2027!
You are Haruto Saito, a member of Japan’s Self-Defense Forces, who has spent years fighting in distant lands for his country. Like any dangerous job, it was never going to end well. One day, Haruto loses everyone under his command and, by a cruel twist of fate, ends up the only survivor.
When he returns home, guilt and regret gnaw at him as he faces a society still rattled by the war’s aftermath. With nowhere left to belong, Haruto risks being forcibly committed to a newly established rehabilitation facility for soldiers, a place that feels less like “help” and more like a one-way ticket to a psych ward.
Naturally, by the laws of the genre (and with a little help from the plot engine), fate isn’t about to let our not-quite-fully-formed protagonist off the hook. Haruto has a chance encounter with a mysterious man who offers him a job as a teacher, or rather, a guardian, for four troubled teenagers in a new rehabilitation project called Quiet Classroom. It’s his last shot at avoiding forced commitment.
Here, Haruto meets his future students and frankly, they’re a pretty textbook bunch. Now he has to choose: take on the responsibility of other people’s lives, just as tragic as his own… or keep swallowing horse-sized doses of sedatives in a mental hospital every morning. Which option sounds better?
