About This Game

Abyss Archives is a detective mystery game with elements of horror. You play as an investigator sent to a construction site shut down after a supernatural incident. Using old photographs, you trace the memories of the dead and piece together the truth hidden beneath the abyss.

Detailed Description

About us

We are a tiny team of detective game enthusiasts. Inspired by Return of the Obra Dinn and The Case of the Golden Idol, we created Abyss Archives as a small tribute to the developers behind both games.

About the Game

  • In a small northern city, construction has begun on a new landmark building. As the first foundation pile is driven into the ground, pitch-black wastewater suddenly gushes out, followed by strange noises from deep below. The workers flee in terror, and construction is brought to a halt.

  • The land was once home to an abandoned mine. Ten years ago, a mining accident that shocked the entire city claimed the lives of every worker who descended underground. Now, it seems those restless spirits have awakened once more beneath the earth.

  • Sent to investigate, you must uncover the truth behind the mining accident.

  • Your investigation begins with a series of old photographs. Locate the places where they were taken, and each one will pull you back to key moments surrounding the mining accident.

  • These memories are incomplete. They leave behind only fragments, conversations, and scattered details. Clues often lie in the smallest, most easily overlooked places, so you must observe carefully and connect the pieces yourself.

  • During your investigation, you will collect sets of Keywords, which may refer to people, locations, or even hidden motives. Place them in the right spots to fill in the missing information, gradually reconstructing the events of the case, the relationships between its characters, and the truth behind it all.

  • Unlike traditional detective games driven by dialogue and story progression, Abyss Archives puts you in front of death scenes, fragmented memories, and limited clues. You are the one who must observe, connect the clues, and draw your own conclusions. Will you be able to uncover the truth?

  • A suspenseful story where a mining accident from ten years ago intertwines with a supernatural incident in the present.

  • Use old photographs to trace fragments of the victims’ memories from when they were alive.

  • Search for clues in character conversations, personal belongings, and environmental details.

  • Collect Keywords and use logical reasoning to place them correctly and reconstruct the case.

  • Freely investigate death scenes instead of simply following the story and choosing preset answers.

  • Lead the deduction yourself. Use any means necessary in pursuit of the truth.
