About This Game

2M62

Detailed Description

The M62 is a family of Soviet mainline diesel locomotives. The first model of the series was developed for operation in Hungary. The locomotives were produced by the Lugansk Locomotive Works starting in 1964. The M62 became the first mainline diesel locomotive exported by the USSR. In some countries (such as Poland, Czechoslovakia, and Hungary), these locomotives, designated according to local standards, became the main locomotive series.

The 2M62 is a two-section variant of the M62 family, with a prototype built in August 1976. Production continued until the end of 1987. A total of 1,261 locomotives were built.

Structurally, each section was largely identical to the single-section M62. Instead of the rear cabs of the M62, each section of the 2M62 was equipped with a door allowing passage to the adjacent section. Both sections were identical to each other. Each of them could operate as an independent locomotive with a single cab.

During production, some design modifications were introduced (for example, instead of separate round buffer lights, unified rectangular buffer light blocks were implemented).
