About This Game
An early British diesel which made a notable arrival across the southern counties, the Class 33 earned a following during its decades of duty, giving it a perfect part to play in Train Sim World®’s remastered West Somerset Railway diesel gala!
Detailed Description
TSW Compatible content released for a previous Train Sim World® - features may remain unchanged from the original release and may not make use of all newer core features.
An early British diesel which made a notable arrival across many of the southern counties, the BR Class 33 earned a fan-favourite following during its decades of duty. From Dover to Dorset, the “Crompton” favoured well for preservation, and is often seen on heritage lines and railtours, giving it a perfect part to play in Train Sim World®’s remastered West Somerset Railway diesel gala!
The 1955 plan to modernise Britain’s railways set in motion a cascade of mass dieselisation. The Southern Region, despite already being largely electrified, still needed locomotives which could work away from the third rail, as many yards, sidings and distant routes would not be plugged into the network.
Originally known as the BRCE Type 3, although with their nickname derived from their on-board Crompton Parkinson electrical equipment, the Class 33 entered service from 1959. While not the largest loco on the rails, the reliable Sulzer engine packed a 1550-horsepower punch, propelling the “Crompton” up to 85mph. From widespread use across Southern England came a keen enthusiasm for the fleet, and no less than 29 of the 98 built would avoid the cutters torch.
In Train Sim World®, the Class 33 fits right at home on the West Somerset Railway’s historical diesel gala, take to the rails and dazzle senses with unrivalled Sulzer action! With the power of Free Roam, explore the World in Type 3 fashion, and put the Crompton to test however you desire.
Please note: Train Sim World®: West Somerset Railway is required, as a separate purchase, in order to utilise the content featured in this add-on.
