Cutout Village is a relaxing indie city-builder about building, crafting, and a village slowly coming back to life. Set against the backdrop of rural depopulation, you’ll build and customize a small medieval-inspired village using paper sheets that you’ll cut, fold, and glue together to create buildings, services, and decorative elements.
Inspired by traditional paper crafts and the paper cutout books that became popular throughout the 20th century, Cutout Village combines village building with a unique, hands-on way of creating.
Cut, fold, and glue
Here, building a village means more than simply placing buildings.
To grow your village, you’ll need to cut, fold, and assemble the different paper sheets you collect along the way. Each new building lets you expand the village, unlock new services, and move the story forward.
As you progress, you’ll discover new buildings, characters, and situations as you help bring a once-quiet village back to life.
And the best part? Every building you unlock in the game is also available as a printable PDF sheet. You can print it, cut it out, fold it, and build it with your own hands in the real world.
No heavy pressure or complicated management systems: build at your own pace, customize your village, and enjoy the process.
A village coming back to life
Our protagonists inherit an old family home in the village where they spent their childhood. Years later, the place is almost completely deserted.
Through environmental storytelling, you’ll gradually uncover the village’s history and accompany its inhabitants as they bring life back to its streets.
