It is the time of the warring states. Demons rise from beneath the earth and invade castles and castle-towns, transforming them into warped, monstrous fortresses.

In order to save his master, the ninja, Rasen, descends into the hells, and makes a contract with the enemy force. He signs away his mortal life. And what he gains is power beyond that of any ordinary man.

However, that power is also a curse. Unless Rasen obtains the essence of defeated demons and people who have lost their humanity - unless he continues ingesting the dregs of their souls - he cannot remain in the mortal world.

He is forced to consume souls to remain tethered to his existence, and slay even those who were once his allies. Caught between loyalty and fate, Rasen's battle begins.

This is a rogue-lite action game set in a Japanese dark fantasy world.

The player controls Rasen as he ascends a hellishly warped demonic castle. Slaying enemies, slaughtering demons, clambering over corpses, and finally reaching for the heavens.

The design is a simple one-stick, one-button control scheme. Use the stick to move, and the button to jump and pass through platforms to the other side. In mid-air, release your grappling hook to open up new routes.

Your attacks are unleashed automatically. Shuriken, Kunai, Bombs and the War Eagle: a variety of weapons are unlocked one by one, intense combat unfolding from these simple controls.

You decide which weapon skills to strengthen, eventually achieving an explosive level of firepower.

The Thunder Bomb, Sacred Awakening, Hurricane and many other special items also await you. Each of these will be a powerful aid to Rasen, and help him make it through the many hardships of the battlefield.

You can also use the ore you gather to improve Rasen's durability, lengthen the time limit or increase the number of items that appear. Rasen will grow stronger with each defeat, and will each time be able to venture further into the darkness.

Can Rasen's blades cut through the demons? Or will be he himself be consumed?
