You do not need a hundred thousand words. About 850 everyday words cover almost everything you say in a day. Play and Learn: English has you saying them out loud on the first evening, and builds from there.

A COMPLETE A1 AND A2 COURSE

Two full courses run through the world, each along its own island road. You walk from chalkboard to chalkboard: every board teaches eleven sentences, shows what they mean in your language, says them aloud, then asks you to use them. Each chapter ends at an examiner's board that mixes everything you just learned — meaning, listening, spelling, gap-filling, and "what would you say here?".

A1 has 37 chapters, A2 has 26: 189 lessons and 63 checkpoints, from introducing yourself to sitting a job interview, renting a flat, taking something back to a shop and missing a connecting flight.

YOUR MICROPHONE IS THE CONTROLLER

Not the keyboard — your voice. Speech recognition runs on your own machine and listens to what you actually say. Words you get right turn green, and before long you will be playing just to watch the screen go green.

EVERY SENTENCE IN YOUR OWN LANGUAGE

You are never left guessing. Under every sentence you are asked to say, the meaning appears in your language — 5,583 sentences translated into 32 languages. Words, example sentences and lesson notes are translated too, so a complete beginner can start without needing English to read the instructions.

ROLE-PLAY ROOMS — TALKING IS THE GAMEPLAY

Step into a real scene and the room gives you tasks. Order at the cafe, buy fruit at the market, describe your symptoms at the doctor's, open an account at the bank, get through customs, sit a job interview, buy a phone, book a holiday, view a flat. Say each task in English and it turns green in your journal; finish the room and take your reward at the door.

GRAMMAR PATTERN ROOMS

"I want to...", "I need to...", "I am going to...", "There is...", "Let's..." — step into a room, hear the pattern, then say your own version out loud. You build real sentences, not isolated words.

SCHOOL, CLASSES AND QUIZ BATTLES

The school opens onto nine vocabulary classes. Each teaches a themed set of words and then puts you in a quiz battle against the teacher: a right answer earns gold, a wrong one costs health. A joker reveals the English word when you are stuck.

ESCAPE ROOMS

A chain of locked rooms that only language opens. Find the code, hunt down the missing objects, answer the riddles, say the sentence out loud, pick out the line you just heard, win the quiz battle. Every door asks for a different skill.

PRACTICE CONVERSATIONS

Scripted scenes — customs, hotel, pharmacy, bar, restaurant, directions, greetings, an interview — where you play one side of the conversation and the game plays the other.

FREE TALK — JUST SPEAK

No quiz, no right answer. Say anything in English and the game writes down what it understood, line by line on your notepad. The most honest mirror of your speaking, and it never leaves your computer.

THE CARD SYSTEM

Walk up to any object and its word, icon, meaning, example sentence and pronunciation appear. Say you know it and it goes into your notebook. From then on you see that word in green wherever it turns up, so your progress is visible and countable.

EVERY LINE IS SPOKEN

More than 21,000 lines of audio are recorded into the game with natural voices — four speakers, young and old, male and female. Nothing is streamed and nothing is generated while you wait.
