Step into the J022 Basin, a land corrupted by evil forces, and uncover the terrifying truth behind BOT Corporation’s catastrophic project failure. BOTMARE is an indie FPS blending hardcore gunplay, time-limited dungeon runs, relentless monster hordes, escort missions and Lovecraftian dark storytelling. Play solo, or team up with a friend via local split-screen and Steam Remote Play Together. Complete objectives, fend off horrific creatures and confront powerful bosses across this nightmarish realm.

Core Lore & Storyline

The J022 Basin was originally built to develop sleep-assisting energy fields, until ancient evil powers plunged the entire region into ruin. The corporation’s experiments ended in disaster: every living being was twisted into feral monsters, and once-thriving villages turned into lifeless wastelands. A catastrophic purge protocol has been activated, and time is running out fast.

Heed the corporation’s call and venture deep into the basin alongside Mango, leader of Team E. Your mission is to reactivate long-dormant relic statues and get to the bottom of this catastrophe. Along the way, you will encounter mysterious NPCs who share eerie tales of the basin’s descent into chaos, while unlocking exclusive gear and vital intel. Gradually, you will unearth the age-old dark secrets buried in this land. Inscriptions carved into ancient ruins whisper dark incantations to evil deities, and roaming beasts hunt you relentlessly. A journey of survival and discovery has only just begun.

Two Game Modes with Time-Limited Challenges

The game features two distinct modes with separate time limits, objectives and rules, each bringing its own level of challenge.

Single Player Mode (2700 seconds)

Brave the horrors alone. Gather designated tokens, activate 6 relic statues, and escort Mango safely to the final destination. Fight off swarms of monsters with no allies to rely on. There is a 50% chance to trigger an epic final boss battle upon reaching the end. You will fail the mission if time runs out, all players are defeated, the escort target perishes prematurely, or you force-quit the game.

Co-op Mode (3600 seconds)

Enjoy local split-screen gameplay, fully compatible with Steam Remote Play. Work with your partner to collect more tokens and power up 9 ancient mechanisms. Cover for one another and coordinate tactics to boost your survival odds — yet you still face a 50% risk of being wiped out by the boss.

*When players succumb to Nightmare Corruption and die in any campaign, there is a 10% chance to trigger "Return from Hell". The player’s soul follows the Archdemon back to the mortal realm. Rebirth comes with a price: become the Archdemon’s thrall, or vanish into ashes.

Token System

You retain 100% of all tokens collected during a successful run. If you fail the mission, you only keep 25% of your earnings. Four core currencies run the game: J022BOT Vouchers, Mare Eyes, Dark Remnants and Phantoms. Spend them to purchase supplies, equipment and powerful buffs.

Hardcore Gunplay & Vast Weapon Arsenal

The game features realistic ballistics and firearm physics. Every shot causes muzzle rise and random crosshair deviation, with the deviation scale determined by bullet damage and projectile count. The two playable characters also have different muzzle recoil recovery speeds. Additionally, you cannot fire or aim while sprinting, delivering an authentic and tactical shooting experience.

Choose from an extensive roster of weapons tailored for all combat scenarios. The armory includes sniper rifles, machine guns, shotguns, assault rifles, handguns, large-caliber firearms, explosive ordnance and unique summon weapons, supported by 13 different types of ammunition. Both automatic and semi-automatic variants come with varied fire rates, magazine capacities and reload speeds. Mix and match loadouts for endless tactical possibilities in close-quarters and long-range combat.

Diverse Items, Buffs & Combat Systems

Beyond firearms, a full-fledged system of supplies, deployables, enhancements and melee weapons grants near-limitless tactical freedom.

Survival Supplies: Body armor, medical kits, energy drinks and rations restore your health, armor and stamina to sustain prolonged battles. Some items come with mixed effects, forcing you to weigh risks and rewards before use.

Tactical Deployables: Wield nukes, landmines, automated turrets and defensive barriers. Lay waste to crowds of enemies, set up automatic defenses and build fortified positions to dominate the battlefield.

Nightmare Enhancements: Spend tokens to unlock temporary or permanent upgrades that boost maximum health, armor, movement speed and weapon damage. Be warned — every buff you gain will also strengthen the monsters, turning power gains into a high-risk, high-reward tradeoff.

Altar Melee Weapons: Over a dozen distinct melee armaments await at the dark altar, each with unique damage output, attack speed and range. Combine firearms and melee weapons to craft your own unique combat style.

Varied Foes & Dynamic Battlefield

The basin is infested with dozens of monsters boasting unique traits, creating escalating combat threats. Face regular zombies, swift predators, splitting creatures, high-speed assassins and heavily armored brutes, alongside elite foes and powerful bosses. Many enemies possess special abilities such as resurrection, self-multiplication, self-destruction, long-range sniping and poison attacks. You will even encounter immortal guardian monsters that drastically raise the difficulty of your run.

Spawn mechanics keep the battlefield ever-changing: enemies keep spawning endlessly for non-stop pressure. Regular airdrops deliver rare ammo, heavy weaponry, deployables and top-tier supplies — your best chance to turn the tide when cornered.

Controls & Standout Features

Split-Screen Controls: Fully independent keybinds for single-player and co-op modes. The intuitive keyboard-and-mouse layout covers movement, camera control, firing, reloading, looting and item usage. Two players can play side-by-side with zero operational interference.
