About This Game

The complete political career: win the primary, take the White House, govern all eight years. Sign treaties, issue executive orders, fight wars, even amend the Constitution. An on-device AI judges your decisions, written in your own words. No subscription. Every choice echoes.

Detailed Description

Type What You Would Actually Do. Live With It For Eight Years.

Most political games hand you four buttons. POTUS Election Sim hands you a blank box and an advisor waiting for an answer.

Your Chief of Staff briefs you on a real situation. You write your orders in your own words. An AI, that is running on your machine, not in somebody's cloud, reads what you actually wrote, weighs how decisive and how politically survivable it was, and builds the consequences out of it. The corner you cut in March is October's scandal. The senator you humiliated on camera remembers in the confirmation hearing.

And it is not one term. It is one career: a statehouse district, a city hall, a governor's mansion, a seat in Congress, the primary, the convention, 270 electoral votes, all 1,460 days of a term, the midterms that wreck it, re-election, and a second term if the country lets you keep it.

One character. One résumé. Everything you win and every scar you take follows you into the next race.

The Career Ladder

Each rung is a complete game with its own campaign and its own governing engine.

  • Statehouse — A sprint campaign for one district. Everybody starts somewhere.

  • City Hall — 24 real US cities with real ward counts and neighbourhood-level maps. Balance an actual municipal budget where every line has a constituency that votes.

  • The Governor's Mansion — Veto queues, state budgets, clemency petitions, a real state legislature with real chambers, and an electorate that will absolutely hand it to the other party if you get it wrong.

  • Congress — House or Senate. Whip votes on 71 floor-ready bills, fight leadership races, chair a committee, trade your vote for something you want more.

  • The Cabinet — The one rung nobody elects you to. Serve in Congress well enough and a President may appoint you; run a department, and find out how little that is worth when they stop taking your calls.

  • The Vice Presidency — Lose the nomination and you may be offered the ticket anyway. Serve. Wait. Know exactly what you are waiting for.

  • The White House — The top of the ladder and the hardest job in the game.

The Campaign

Build a ground game, hold rallies where the votes are, manage a war chest that runs out, survive debates and opposition research, and move real voter blocs across all 50 states.

  • Full primary season, convention floor drama, and a running-mate decision that matters

  • Run as a Democrat, a Republican — or found your own party, name it, colour it, write its platform, and watch it win real seats in Congress

  • Election Night as a live set piece: states report, networks call, and you sweat every tossup

The Presidency

Win and the real game starts. The First 100 Days set the tone, with cabinet confirmations (the safe pick, or the brilliant radioactive one?), your agenda, a flagship bill, the State of the Union, your first genuine crisis. Then the term grinds on: the year-one slog, brutal midterms, and a re-election year that fires up the entire campaign engine again.

The job can also be taken from you. Let scandal build and the House opens an inquiry, votes articles, and the Senate holds a trial with all 100 votes simulated one at a time. Two-thirds concurring and you are handed your coat. Or resign first, on your own terms, and spend the rest of your life explaining it.

The Full Powers of the Office

  • Treaties — Trade pacts, defence treaties, climate accords, arms control and peace deals with 14 world powers, then the real fight: a 67-vote Senate ratification. Whip it with public pressure, backroom deals or concessions — or lose, and gamble on an executive agreement the Senate will never forgive.

  • Executive Orders — Six policy areas, three scopes. A sweeping order moves policy overnight, enrages the opposition, and has a date with a federal judge. Struck down, and your credibility goes with the policy.

  • Constitutional Amendments — The Article V moonshot: 290 in the House, 67 in the Senate, then 38 state legislatures ratifying wave by wave. Twenty-seven have ever made it. Write the 28th — or stall at 35 states and die like the ERA.

  • The Supreme Court — Nine named justices with ideology, age, and a long memory of who appointed them. Appeal your struck-down orders, watch a seat open at the worst possible moment, and fight the nomination war: firebrand, moderate, or stealth pick. Stealth picks sometimes betray you.

  • Constitutional Hardball — Resize the House. Pack the Court. Kill the filibuster. Repeal the Twenty-Second and run for a third term. Admit new states and change the electoral map permanently. Everything here is legal. None of it is free.

  • The Budget — A real fiscal engine underneath the whole term. Deficits compound, debt service crowds out your agenda, and "fully funded" is a claim the game will check.

The World, and the War You Started

A grand-strategy world map runs beneath the presidency: diplomacy with foreign governments that remember exactly how you have treated them, sanctions, foreign aid, covert operations, alliances, and a UN Security Council where your veto is the loudest thing you own and every use of it costs you something.

Declare war and you command it on a theatre of operations map — cities, forts, ports and airbases linked by supply roads, where a position that cannot trace a line back to a headquarters bleeds out. Flanking beats grinding.

But the map has no clock of its own. You plot the offensive — march that garrison down this road, throw every adjacent position at that fortress, put a strike package on the dug-in ridge — then close the map and go govern. The days you spend being President are the days your orders are carried out in. One presidency day is one day at the front, so a war is a genuine months-long commitment grinding away behind everything else you are doing. Leave it on autopilot and you get precisely what that earns: a quagmire eating your approval, your budget and your term.

Nuclear Command

  • DEFCON 5 to 1 — Derived from the world you actually made: who you are fighting, whose relations you have wrecked, whose soil your operators are standing on. You can raise the alert yourself. Foreign capitals read that as preparation, not prudence.

  • The Football — A target, a doctrine (counterforce, countervalue, decapitation, or a demonstration shot over empty ground), a warhead count, a yield. The Joint Chiefs project the dead before you commit, and tell you how many of their warheads would survive to answer.

  • The Two-Man Rule — Your authority is not legally checkable, but the order travels through people. A Secretary of Defense who judges it unlawful will refuse it, resign, and be on every front page by morning.

  • It can come the other way — Every day of a reckless presidency carries a small chance of a first strike on the United States, and it is never a surprise: warnings escalate for months and a threat board itemises every single thing you did to earn it. If it lands, your presidency is over, and the last decision you ever make is whether to answer.

A Washington With People In It

360 real officeholders — senators, governors, mayors, leadership — populate your world with the political class that actually exists, each with their own way of operating and their own opinion of you. Cross one as a state legislator and meet them again twenty years later across the Resolute Desk. The relationship ledger outlives every office you hold.

And you are on the timeline like everyone else. Post in your own words and the feed answers: six brand voices you can grow into, tribes that spread you or bury you, foreign ministries that respond to being named, and staff who have your password and occasionally use it. A brand raises your floor and lowers your ceiling — decide which one you need.

Mods and the Steam Workshop

Build a whole election and share it in two clicks.

  • Elections — Any year, real or invented: the national environment, the state-by-state map, the electoral votes each state holds, the primary field on both sides, and the nominee you face in the general.

  • Worlds — Repaint the map, rewrite the countries, add territories, set the date and the divergence, and hand the player a presidency already in progress.

  • Parties — Create a playable party with its own name, colours and platform.

  • Event decks — Write your own campaign decision cards, with real effects and rolls that can go either way.

  • One-click Workshop — Subscribe and it is in your next run. Publish and it is in everyone's.

Almost every mod is pure data and cannot execute anything. A mod may also ship code, and those are labelled — nothing runs until you have read it and allowed it yourself.

Twenty Challenges

Twelve scenarios on the real presidency engine — fixed president, fixed crisis, one loud objective. Six gauntlet runs (38% approval and a year to save it; 486 electoral votes and no excuses; a 50-50 Senate and 270 exactly) and six inspired by history, with scripted mid-term shocks: a Depression-scale collapse and three laws in a hundred days; nine days into a term when everything changes; a president nobody elected; only a hawk can make peace with the dragon; a country tearing itself apart; four catastrophes and a punchline waiting.

Eight ladder challenges judged on your whole résumé rather than one term: every rung with no skips, no executive office ever, an entire career without a single scandal, win only where they hate your party, never lose an election.

The Political Playground

Six five-minute toys between runs, all built on the simulation's own engines.

  • Policy Lab — Type any policy you can imagine. It scores 20 stakeholder groups instantly, then puts your words in front of a live AI focus group of the game's own voters, who revise the verdict in their own voice.

  • The Situation Room — It is 3 A.M. and they woke you. Twelve crises, one clock each, two advisors who disagree. Type the order out loud, then read the next 72 hours — including the part that went wrong.

  • The Spin Room — Thirty seconds of airtime. Write the attack ad from a real opposition file, or the statement that saves you. Fact-checkers rate it, the other war room fires back, a swing voter tells you what actually landed.

  • The Cabinet Draft — Eight seats, three candidates each: loyalist, technocrat, wildcard. Nobody is the right answer. See who the Senate destroys, who detonates in the autumn, and who quietly does the work.

  • Which Voter Are You? — Eight honest questions against the simulation's own voter personas. Meet your political twin, then watch them judge your presidency.

  • Hall of Fame — Every presidency graded, every campaign counted, every challenge remembered. All local: your machine, your legend.

he AI Runs On Your Machine

No cloud. No subscription. No API key. Nothing leaves your computer.

  • Reads your free-text decisions and generates the consequences, the advisor reactions and the follow-up events

  • 20 named voter personas — a retired teacher in suburban Ohio, a union electrician in Detroit — who shift as you govern

  • 20 stakeholder groups from Wall Street to the gun lobby, all of them with memories

  • Generated headlines, social reactions, opposition research and a strategic campaign advisor

  • At the end: an AI-written encyclopaedia article about your presidency, and the historical verdict

Quality tiers scale it to your hardware, down to machines that cannot run a model at all — every screen has a written fallback, so nothing in the game is ever waiting on the AI to be playable.

Modes

  • Political Career — One politician, the whole ladder. Your record follows you.

  • Campaign Trail — The full presidential election against AI opponents. 270 to win.

  • Presidency Mode — Govern all eight years. Get destroyed in the midterms. Run it back.

  • Midterms · Governor · Mayor · Statehouse — Every elected rung, playable on its own, with its own campaign and its own governing engine.

  • Challenge Scenarios & Ladder Challenges — Twenty named dares.

  • Historical Elections — Replay 1980 through 2024 on real state margins and real period electoral votes.

  • Quick Play: Presidency — Skip the campaign, pick your Congress, govern from day one.

Two Ways To Play It

Story hides the numbers and gives you the scene. Analyst shows you every derivation — odds, thresholds, whip counts, the maths behind the verdict. Switch whenever you like; it is the same simulation either way.
