DISCIPLINE

DISCIPLINE is a minimalist desktop calendar for keeping an unbroken daily routine. It lives as a transparent, frameless widget behind all your windows, like part of the desk itself. Set one to three daily disciplines, check them all off before 3 AM, and the day is won — marked with a hand-drawn X on the calendar. Won days in a row form a chain, and that number is the heart of the product.

The rules are strict on purpose. There are no streak freezes, and the past can never be edited: miss a day and the chain breaks. DISCIPLINE promises that the number on your desk is real — which is exactly why it comes to mean something.

Features

• A transparent calendar widget that sits behind every window — always visible on the desktop, never in your way, with no taskbar icon and no stolen focus.
• Set 1–3 daily disciplines, each with an optional when-and-where pledge shown beside its checkbox.
• The day ends at 3:00 AM, not midnight — a check-in at 1:30 AM still counts as today.
• Complete everything and the day is won: a chalk X is drawn live on the calendar, generated uniquely from the date. Consecutive wins form the chain, and days 7, 30, 100, 365 and 1000 are marked in gold forever.
• No streak freezes, no repairs, no backfilling yesterday. A missed day restarts the chain — a permanent design decision.
• A living flame burns behind the chain number, climbing ten stages of color as the chain grows, while the number itself is recast in ten materials from bronze to black glass. The flame leans away from your cursor, flinches when poked, and burns out in a small funeral when the chain dies.
• You begin by signing a contract: your reason in one line, and your real signature drawn with the mouse. The certificate can be viewed at any time.
• From 8 PM an unfinished day turns the card red. The final three hours run a countdown next to the reason you signed — in your own words.
• Checking a box takes more than a click: the app asks up to four short questions before the X is written. Removing a check is instant.
• Every won day earns one coin. Spend them on 27 card skins — solid colors, art prints, and glass panels your wallpaper shines through. Two skins cannot be bought at any price; they unlock only at best chains of 30 and 100.
• A journal page for every day: type or draw freehand (pen, eraser, color picker, paint fill, six paper types), tear off floating note sheets that live on the desktop, and time your work with the built-in stopwatch. Pages seal read-only at 3 AM.
• From 5 PM you can write tomorrow's list in advance and seal it; it arrives pre-filled the next morning. Each letter lives exactly one night.
• Add optional side quests for extra tasks, and pin short promises to future dates — the morning check-in reads today's promises back to you.
• A private photo feed with exactly one follower: future you. Photos posted before the day is won hang as undeveloped negatives, develop the moment you win, and stay undeveloped forever on lost days. Any month can be exported as a 1080×1920 share card drawn from your real calendar.
• Optional rain for focus: real rain footage on the card, with sound that keeps playing while you work in other windows. Or fold the whole card into a tiny ember — just the flame and the number.
• 100% offline. No account, no telemetry, no network requests. Your entire history is one local file with three rotating backups, synced through Steam Cloud. Available in 42 languages.

Performance

DISCIPLINE is built to run 24/7 without being felt. Rendering pauses completely while the widget is covered, drops to a low frame rate when you step away, and the audio engine releases the sound device after 30 seconds of silence. There is no bundled browser — the app runs on Windows' built-in WebView2 with a thin Rust shell. Windows 10/11.
